Above Topo of the 1941 Hodgkin route up Gebel Kassala that we did with no wish to climb more due to the massive influx of refugees struggling in across the desert.
Left The Kassala mountains followed by some photos of our Jebel Marra trip. The photo of Di was taken on our return from the Kassala climb - no water, but what a juicy water melon that was! The Bedouin girl is from the Rashaida tribe at Kassala.That's Tony walking by the train on the journey to Nyala in Sudanese clothes. Wearing those clothes - and sitting and sleeping on the roof - were only way to keep cool on the six day journey.
