Top & bottom left The 1000m limestone cliff of Kuh-e-Bisotun in Iranian Kurdistan, north of the Zagros. We made the first ascent of the pillar right of the deep central couloir and above the tent - luckily we took a bivouac tent as we were caught in a full-on thunderstorm - the only rain we had in 2 months!

Bottom centre & right The beautiful Karun Canyon in the Zagros Mountains west of equally beautiful Isfahan and Persepolis and home to Bakhtiari people whose villages are accessible by cables slung across the river. We never reached the reputed 2000m cliff we were looking for as the army threw us out!
